The crown chakra, also called the third eye chakra, is a highly sensitive area at the very top of the head. It is situated so that it has close ties to the central nervous system and the brain. The pineal and the hypothalamus are also connected to sahasrara, but not as strongly as the pituitary gland. The endocrine system (every biological process in the body) is regulated by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. Sahasrara Chakra Meditation
The colour violet represents this energy centre. You could imagine it as a halo of light hovering over your head as you meditate or relax. Try closing your eyes and visualising the light. Allow it to move with your breathing, your consciousness expanding upward into a shaft of light that reflects back down into you. As it fills your body and the room around you, let it rise up and out of your head to reveal a sparkling violet spotlight surrounding you. You can make a connection with everything in the universe by meditating on your crown and imagining your breath as a gorgeous column of violet light while chanting the sound OM.
